Windowing Advisor

Release sequencing and licensing yield

What it is for

Window decisions are usually made under deal pressure and justified afterwards. A buyer asks for a shorter theatrical window or a collapsed transactional one, and the cost of agreeing is argued from precedent without ever being worked out. The figure you need is downstream yield across the whole sequence, by territory, and you need it before the term sheet is signed.

Models the revenue impact of release-window structures across theatrical, premium transactional, subscription, and free-to-air. It is built for distribution and licensing teams negotiating multi-territory deals, and shows what shortening or collapsing a window does to downstream yield before the term sheet is signed.

What it does

  • Window-length elasticity by territory
  • Licensing yield forecasts per platform tier
  • Cannibalisation modelling across windows
  • Output-deal versus title-by-title comparison
  • Scenario branching with saved assumptions
  • Negotiation-ready export packs

How it works

Fit the elasticity

Window-length elasticity is fitted per territory, because the same shortening costs different amounts in different markets.

Model the sequence

Each window is modelled together with how much it takes from the windows after it. The output is total yield across the sequence, so one window is never optimised at the expense of the others.

Branch the scenarios

Scenarios are saved with their assumptions attached. When a negotiation moves, you compare the new position with a saved scenario.

Export for the room

The export pack is written to be read in a negotiation. It compares the structures, gives the difference in yield, and states the assumptions.

What you get

  • Per-territory window elasticity model
  • Yield forecasts by platform tier
  • Scenario workspace with saved assumptions
  • Output-deal and title-by-title comparison
  • Negotiation-ready export packs
  • Model documentation stating every assumption

Who it is for

  • Distribution and licensing teams negotiating multi-territory deals
  • Studios weighing day-and-date against a staggered release
  • Finance teams testing what a collapsed window does to a slate
